Hesperidin is a flavanone glycoside concentrated in citrus peel and juice, with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity8. People take it for leg heaviness and swelling in chronic venous disease, usually inside venoactive combinations with hesperidin methyl chalcone, diosmin, or Ruscus. Others use it for blood lipids and inflammation2, 3, fatty liver4, and memory, where the trials are few.

The evidence splits by use. Ruscus combinations with hesperidin methyl chalcone carry the highest-graded evidence in chronic venous disease. A 2025 cell-model study found hesperidin inhibited coronavirus spike-mediated cell fusion; the finding comes from cells only9. Poor solubility and low bioavailability limit hesperidin absorption, which newer formulations aim to improve; see Form comparison10.

The pills reflect product labeling, not trial findings. Per one label each, blood-thinning medication calls for a physician's advice7, and hesperidin is avoided around surgery7.
